STEP is a project that aims to enable young people to have some fun and grow personally through developing technical dance abilities and working towards creating their own dance performances.
Using dance as their starting point, they have the opportunity to explore what dance means to them and have the chance to use what they discover to express themselves creatively while creating something unique.
STEP sessions are not focused specifically on any one dance style. Students can choose and integrate a wide range of different dance styles including; traditional, modern, street, and the latest club moves.

A typical STEP session would include:
- Building better technical dance ability.
- Creating a dance track as musical accompaniment.
- Employing key choreographic elements (Structuring movement, music and dance
relationships, health and safety and costume design).
- Gain an understanding of how they can deliver a good performance.
- Work together to create their own 5 minute dance performance.
- Fun!
Although improving dance ability is one goal of STEP, the foundations on which the project is built focuses on the idea of using dance as a tool to give young people the opportunity to freely express themselves in a creative, supportive and caring environment.

STEP is committed to facilitating and encouraging young people to perform higher and reach their potential.
